The Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival (based in Cardiff) awards the largest short film prize in the world – the prestigious £30,000 Iris Prize. In partnership with BUFF, a selection of short films funded by the Iris Prize has been curated to screen at the British Urban Film Festival in London. Also screening will be this year’s BUFF nominated short for Best British Short at the Iris Prize – ‘Fee’ starring Munroe Bergdorf.

 

Selected shorts: Colonial Gods (Dir: Dee Rees):

A complicated friendship between a Somali man and Nigerian man unfolds against the chaos of gentrification and displacement in a small immigrant community in Cardiff, Wales known as Tiger Bay.

 

Involuntary Activist (Dir: Mikael Bundsen):

Aled is faced with a dilemma when his sister tells him that his husband isn’t on the guest list for her wedding in Turkey.

 

Burger (Dir: Magnus Mork):

It’s late night in a burger bar.

 

Fee (Dir: Guen Murroni):

Fee is out celebrating with her friends on the night of her legal change, but a voice from the past keeps plaguing her. She confronts that voice from the past as she finds a moment to be alone.
